Design Brief & Solution
This statement kitchen in Bowdon, Greater Manchester brings together German luxury engineering and exquisite craftsmanship, while bringing plenty of personality to the clients’ living space.
The client brief was simple, to create the perfect statement kitchen that was in keeping with the contemporary style of their home.
The space benefits from lots of height and light, which enabled the designer to be bold in the choice of colour. Pronorm’s Y–Line handleless kitchen range in the Platinum Organic Glass was paired with Alba Oak Black to create a visual and tactile contrast between the velvet-soft ultra-matt door and the fine-grain oak in rich, on-trend black. Black pendant lighting and window frames tie the scheme together.
The kitchen island was entirely clad in Dekton Trillium for a durable and yet striking appearance, and this contrasting pattern works well against the exposed brick to give the kitchen an industrial look and feel. The large, extra deep drawers in the island unit provide ultra-elegant and functional storage for everyday items such as utensils, pans and crockery, optimising the overall ergonomics of the kitchen design. With space for additional seating, the island unit creates a focal point for cooking, dining and socialising.
Designer’s Favourite Feature
“We love how the island has been designed to be the perfect focal point to this urban kitchen. It’s the ideal blend of beauty and function, with the striking black units, an industrial-style worktop, the Bora hob, heaps of storage and excellent seating capacity.”
