CREATE YOUR WORLD
CREATE OUR FUTURE

Climate-neutral kitchen production – because responsibility starts with the details.

WHAT DOES SUSTAINABILITY EVEN MEAN?

Everyone talks about sustainability and how good it is for our world. But what exactly it means for us and our world is not clearly defined. We want to take a closer look at what sustainability means to us as pronorm. Three words are particularly close to our hearts: people, the environment and nature. Many people often forget about people, but we believe that people are just as much a part of the world. Let's make the world a better place together.

The certificates emphasise our overall approach and our love of nature, but this is not the most important thing for us.

CLIMATE NEUTRAL KITCHEN MANUFACTURER

pronorm Einbauküchen has officially been a climate-neutral kitchen manufacturer since 2021. In this year, we joined the ‘Climate Pact of the Furniture Industry’ of the Quality Association for Furniture and have been continuously investing in environmentally friendly measures ever since. This recognition is based on our commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions, neutralising CO₂ emissions and thus actively contributing to a sustainable future. In addition to this commitment, we carry the official ‘Möbel Made in Germany’ quality mark, which guarantees that the production, design and quality control and the majority of the manufacturing process for our kitchens takes place exclusively in Germany.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY KITCHEN PRODUCTION

Through environmentally friendly production as part of a continuous improvement process, pronorm aims to reduce resources and energy consumption as well as noise pollution and waste. Our sustainability and quality are confirmed by numerous seals of approval. The high quality standard of our products also includes compliance with the permissible formaldehyde limits for all materials and components. Thanks to an appropriate selection of raw chipboard, the maximum values of emission class E05 are adhered to or are well below.

SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY

We only use wood from sustainably managed forests in the manufacture of our kitchens. We guarantee this with the PEFCTM seal of quality. PEFC stands for global forest certification and is based on very strict guidelines for the sustainable management of forests. In our opinion, this quote from PEFC hits the nail on the head: ‘Your decision in favour of a product with the PEFC seal is therefore a good thing for the forest!’

VALUE MATERIALS

The materials we use should not only be of impeccable quality, but also protect the environment in the long term.It is clear to us that materials and the environment are in harmony. That's why we use our resources sustainably and mainly use environmentally friendly raw materials. All our fronts and carcase parts are PEFC-certified, and we also manufacture our fronts and carcase parts exclusively with PUR gluing. Almost all of our worktop decors and approx. 95% of our front and carcase parts comply with CARB2 specifications. Our packaging material is free from chlorine and is also customised to avoid excess material. We mainly use cardboard instead of polystyrene for our packaging material. We also already have a large selection of 100% recycled fronts.

WASTE PREVENTION

As a certified EMAS organisation, we are continuously improving our environmental performance. The DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management system serves as proof of relevant regulations and as a benchmark for environmentally conscious performance. Waste is largely minimised by optimising offcuts. Any residual panels are reprocessed as heating material for our own buildings. It goes without saying that waste is separated and recycled across all departments. Our waste management system with RKT ensures that we can collect and recycle our transport packaging and thus return it to the recycling cycle.

USING ENERGY EFFICIENTLY

In order to establish a long-term energy management system, we are gradually developing a concept for electricity as an energy source. The optimisation of our operational compressed air system, the installation of a photovoltaic system and the switch to electric forklifts are just a few examples.

We at pronorm have been working very actively for many years to improve our energy balance. What we have already proven with our EMAS certification has now been supplemented with certification in accordance with DIN ISO 50001. Our compressed air supply in the company has been completely reviewed and fundamentally improved with new compressor technology, among other things. We have recently started to look into efficient heating for our production building in the area of building technology. Here, too, energy can be saved and thus protect all our resources.

pronorm Einbauküchen only purchases green electricity from renewable energy plants that fulfil the statutory environmental standards. The guarantees of origin for this green electricity come from sustainable plants that are connected to the European electricity grid and fulfil all required environmental standards.

DURABILITY

Geprüfte Sicherheit is a globally recognised German quality seal for regular product testing. The prestigious ‘Golden M’ award is given to furniture that fulfils strict criteria in the areas of quality, safety, health and environmental protection. This proves the reliability in quality and safety of our products, which is also a reason for the long-standing trust of our customers. We want to continue to build on this and improve continuously. After all, good quality and durability mean meeting standards and sustainability requirements at all levels.

REGIONAL PROCUREMENT

When procuring our materials, we make sure that they do not have to travel long distances to reach us and source them from regional suppliers. Our suppliers use reusable packaging, which means that it can be used for further transport once it has been returned. In this way, we also support our environment and make it a more attractive location.

FUTURE-ORIENTED

People are also part of sustainability. We offer our own employees a job bike leasing scheme so that they can either do without a car for their commute to work or enjoy nature in their free time. Sustainability also means shaping the future of tomorrow. Every year, we take on a large number of apprentices and offer them a one-year contract after their training to make it easier for them to start their careers. As a founding member of the ‘Lehrfabrik der Möbelindustrie’, pronorm actively and with full commitment promotes the future of industrial training for the young talents of tomorrow for our industry. We not only think about the younger generation, but also about the future and further development of all employees and the company. Sustainability affects us all, in many different areas, which makes its importance undeniable.

SUSTAINABILITY FAQS AT PRONORM

Sustainability plays an increasingly important role in kitchen planning. In our FAQs, you will find answers to key questions about sustainable kitchens, production and quality at pronorm.

Yes. pronorm has been producing climate-neutrally since 2021. We reduce our emissions through energy-efficient processes, conscious use of materials and continuous optimisation across the entire value chain. Emissions that cannot yet be completely avoided are offset through certified climate protection projects.
At pronorm, sustainability also means durable kitchen quality, responsible sourcing of materials and active participation in the Climate Pact of the furniture industry.

We primarily reduce CO₂ emissions through more efficient production processes and the use of green electricity. Part of our energy demand is covered directly by a photovoltaic system installed on our production hall, generating electricity on site. Energy-intensive areas are specifically optimised to reduce consumption. This is an ongoing, step-by-step process integrated into daily operations.

The wood used for your kitchen comes from sustainable forestry and is PEFC-certified. This means verified standards in forest management, a transparent supply chain and the clear exclusion of illegally harvested wood. You can therefore rely on responsible sourcing.

We use wood-based materials that meet strict emission requirements, such as E05 and CARB2. These standards ensure particularly low formaldehyde levels and contribute to a healthy indoor climate. In addition, high-quality craftsmanship – including PUR edge bonding – ensures long-lasting stability and durability. This means your kitchen reliably supports you in everyday life.

We reduce waste through precise production processes, optimised cutting and efficient use of materials. Any remaining materials are carefully separated, recycled or reused. Wood residues from production are also used for energy generation, for example to heat our production areas.
We also focus on sustainability in transport and logistics: packaging materials are reduced without compromising the protection of your kitchen, and we increasingly rely on optimised cardboard solutions instead of unnecessary plastics. Efficient logistics and coordinated transport processes further help to reduce emissions.

You can rely on independent certifications. EMAS and ISO 14001 stand for verified environmental management and continuous improvement. In addition, pronorm operates a certified energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001, which is audited annually and systematically optimises energy use. PEFC certification confirms sustainable forestry and controlled supply chains. Further quality certifications additionally ensure durability and compliance with standards.

For us, sustainability means not only environmental and climate protection, but also responsibility towards the people at pronorm. We value secure jobs, fair working conditions and long-term prospects. This includes training and support for young talent, as well as initiatives for health, well-being and mobility.
As a family-influenced company, we think long term and continuously invest in our employees – because their experience, commitment and expertise form the foundation of the quality of every pronorm kitchen.
